Volkshaus in Leipzig

Nice breakfast. Lovely seating outside and good coffee. It was a nice experience! Doesn’t have me going back ever single week like the Vintage Bike Cafe in Berlin but it is nice.

We felt very comfortable. The service is great!

The atmosphere is great, the restaurant is beautifully designed, bistro cuisine, the selection of dishes is manageable. The food is delicious and the portions huge.

I've been back to the Volkshaus for a tasty bite for a while. However, I somehow found that the usual quality was not met. Hmm, it's not a shame either.

The Volkshaus is centrally located on Carl-Liebknecht-Straße and has a good outdoor dining area. The dishes are very easy to prepare for the eyes as well as for the stomach, there is a good mix of light to hearty dishes, mainly for late breakfast to early lunch. The restaurant is very attractive (inside as well as the sanitary rooms), well designed and clean. Only when it comes to the wait staff are there blatantly big differences, if you are lucky you can meet very brisk, assiduous ones, unfortunately I was unlucky. The prices are absolutely justified, recommendation !!

The upscale German cuisine was extremely tasty and attractively draped. We liked the ambience, the service was friendly and we got a very nice window seat without a reservation. We hardly had to wait for food and drink and in the end the price was also reasonable. We'd love to come back and thank you for the lovely evening.

The ambience is really fantastic and to feel good. You should plan a little waiting time for breakfast, but it's worth it. Because the food is really very good.

Drinks were delicious, the menu left a lot to be desired. Staff was nice. Toilets clean. In addition, as requested: For people like me who do not eat dairy products but want to have something small, the selection is too small and, subjectively speaking, too expensive when adjusted.

Very friendly service and perfect for a relaxed meal. The food came quickly and was very hot which is always positive. The portions are unbelievably large and therefore you have a great price-performance ratio.

Horrible service and convenience food... Tourist nap

The food was good, but you weren't allowed to sit in the quiet outside area in the courtyard at lunchtime. So the five of us sat at a small round table and sat a second to eat. Under cozy you imagine something different than a table that is too small and sitting on a main street.

The food and vibes are great. Would recommend heading there for a good breakfast menu option.

Unfortunately we have not had a good experience in the Volkshaus. We wanted to have a drink / small dinner on Friday evening and, as indicated at the entrance, waited for a table to be assigned. Unfortunately there were only tables in the interior that were shown to us in a less than friendly manner. We asked the waitress to let us know if there was a space available in the patio, which was unfriendly with "Other guests want that too." was answered and so we sat all evening and from about 10 p.m. alone indoors. A drink order was taken only about 20 minutes after arrival (8:30 p.m.). Turnover is probably not needed in the Volkshaus, because numerous other guests were sometimes turned down very unfriendly or sat in front of their empty glasses. The gentleman at the bar said that the last round had already been accepted from around 10:00 p.m. Usually all tables are queried again, but we were still ignored. Even to the point where the bar staff were noisy about the guests and the stress they cause. That clouded our evening and the mood. Unfortunately we also had to wait for the bill for a while, although there were now few guests. In general, the restaurant was also max. 1/3 proves what causes even more misunderstanding for the poor performance of the staff. I used to have at least satisfactory experiences with the quality of the food and drinks, but due to the unfriendly and unprofessional staff, I do not recommend visiting the Volkshaus. In Leipzig there are really numerous, better alternatives in which you are not perceived as a disturbing factor as a guest.

Tasty and trendy

This cafe and restaurant is a nice and casual place to talk with other people. We had the option to site on diffrent tables. The waiter was friendly and fast. The coffee and hot chocolate looks and tast delicious as well. I would like to go to this cafe again.

Beautiful place but it stops there.. the egg Benedict is pretty bad with maybe half a liter of sauce on top of 2 eggs seating on spinach with lots of onion. Same for the scrambled eggs... way overcooked even if I requested them to be still creamy.

We liked it. Were here for breakfast. Nice atmosphere and affordable food. Service quick and friendly. It's open all day and we heard that it is great in the evenings with a lot of students coming in for a drink and food.

The food was very good

Was the first time again after the renovation here. I'm positively surprised. Large bar, glass kitchen, very clean toilets. The operation took a little while. Great atmosphere, I will come back again.

Once everything new in the Volkshaus. Unfortunately, the food did not convince completely. It was not really hot and the tomatoes (about 10 pieces) could have been mentioned quietly in the menu, because then I would have liked to omit them. The dessert was delicious. The prices are pretty neat, but okay. The staff could be a bit jagged on the way.

Nice to sit outside and have a drink or enjoy the large variety of food. The road wasn’t very busy so we it was quite when sitting outside as well. The staff is friendly and the service is very quick. Happy to come back anytime.

Good atmosphere to have a drink and watch a football match.

Good food. Reasonable prices. Has two large screens that are good for viewing a soccer match. Service was a little slow for food, however.

Was not expecting anything else then a pour house - but food was rather good. Ordered beetroot gnocchi and what made it fun was deep fried rookola. Beers just ok and selection wasn't amazing. You can skip the rhubarb liquor. Staff was nice and rather helpful. Place is affordable and worth the visit.

Nice restaurant with delicious burgers and fries, value-for-cost ratio is quite alright.

Good food but lacking atmosphere

Brilliant pub with everything for a great impression. The German classics (Spezialitäten) are done right and add a twist. Try the Currywurst (with banana - curry - sauce!), Königsberger Klopse (with a hint of lemon zest) or go for the vegetarian Gnocchi with red beet root. #freeWiFi

I think this bar is excellent! I really like the staff member Ned who really was so kind to me as he is also from London. Looking forward Ned to the great bar! Nice and homy
